Core Values

Lake Ridge Church operates from 5 key values that define what we do.

1.  The Glory of Christ

All we do is based on the key principle of bringing glory to Christ.  2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 tells us "But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."  We are determined to live out the salvation which declares the glory of Christ.

2.  The Importance of People

When the writer of Psalm 8 considered his place in the universe, he stated it this way, "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?" It amazes us that we are so important to God.  But, after all, the creation account in Genesis tells us that we are made in the very image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Throughout the Bible, we see the missionary heart of God revealed by his work to reach people.  Since all people are so important to God, then they are important to us.

3.  The Sufficiency of Scripture

We believe that the Bible is exactly what it claims to be - God's Word.  1 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."  All that we do is based on what the Bible teaches us rather than on mere traditions because we believe it is inerrant and sufficient for life and doctrine.

4.  The Care of the Soul

Making disciples for Christ means both bringing people to a saving relationship with Christ and aiding in their growth in Christ.  In his own words, Jesus told us that he had "come that they may have life, and have it to the full" in John 10:10.  One of our key goals is to aid the church to become more fully aware of God's presence and will for us as individuals and as a community of Christians.

5.  The Fun of Life Together

Christians should have fun when they are together, apart, and everywhere inbetween.  We should see one another in the faith as our hope, joy, and crown at the return of Christ one day (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20).
