A brief history:
In late 2004, Ed Stetzer, Philip Nation and Travis Vaughn committed to planting a new church in north metro Atlanta. Through prayer, they discovered that God was leading the three to team plant the church as a group of co-pastors. It was decided that they would share the teaching responsibilities and divide up the leadership for the new church.
During the summer of 2005, a core group began to gather on Sunday evenings at a local church chapel to study the core values of a church. Through study of the Word and prayer, a plan for impacting the community with the Gospel was formed. During that summer, work, publicity, and preview worship services were held.
Lake Ridge Church officially went public on September 11, 2005 at South Forsyth High School. The launch was a moment in time when we began to see lives changed drastically. Through worship services, children's ministry, and home Bible study groups, people are coming to understand the truth of Christ and his work on their behalf. The church also consistently looks to see how it can encourage other new churches who are in the stages of planning or launching.
Since the launch of the church, there have been some changes as well. Travis traveled on from the church with its blessings on our first anniversary to pursue ministry among a different group of people within our community. Ed felt led by the Lord to lead the Research Team of LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville and moved in the summer of 2006. Philip, however, remains with the church and amazed that he has the privilege to serve as a founding pastor to such a great group of people.
The church is looking ahead now. Seeking to serve the community, encourage families, and multiply the number of followers God has is our mission. Seeing people following Christ, beginning new study groups, and planting new churches is the future of Lake Ridge Church.
